QWN

Questions without notice are the ones that you are not prepared for. This dance work proposes a new regime of performance - a work that provokes by attempting to catch the protagonist unawares. Who is the protagonist - the performer or the viewer? How do we behave when thrust into unfamiliar territory? On what do we base our decisions and what does that say about us, our culture, our beliefs, and ultimately our life?

QWN addresses universal questions about belonging and connection,y issues that confront us at every stage of life, from infancy through maturity to old age. What binds us together and how do we deal with the unpredictable outcomes of human relationship?

Responding to proposals from each other or the audience, the performers make a unique reconstruction of the work each night.

At times the work spills out off the stage and into the audience. Volunteers play a kind of dance-bingo, sashaying in five simple moves to Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Cesaria Evore or 50 Cent. Live-feed video and a constantly evolving sound score emphasise the spontaneity of the event.
