Give Up The Ghost                          video

... to give up to stop trying to cease to function
... to let go to walk away to move forward

In times of confusion or dysfunction it sometimes seems that we are living someone else’s life and not our own. What is that something in our cultural, psychological, human heritage that encourages us to persist beyond all reason and at what point do we let go and walk on?

In a space somewhere between dreams, deja-vu and an over-active imagination, seven characters play out three concurrent and overlapping narratives. Their physical proximity forces them to acknowledge each other’s presence, to define themselves and to deal with their own forceful imaginings.

Special thanks to the performers and collaborators who have contributed enormously to the work. The project has had a number of development stages and several other people must be credited and thanked for their input into the original concepts, processes and performance material. They are; Bill Handley, Graeme Macleod, Jeremy Nottle, Shelley Mardon, Paul O’Sullivan and Shannon Bott.
